Greetings Hydrangeans!!!

As promised, a new addition to the Humble Beginnings series. This blog will chronicle my journey of decorating my small humble office. Before I go too far, what is a Hydrangean? A Hydrangean is a follower of The Tattered Hydrangea! I did not spend a ton of time on that name but I love it! It fits and works for me, lol. 😍

The office space serves as an administrative location and think tank for TTH President (Me). I knew this would be a place for meetings, interviews etc. and wanted it to be different than a typical commercial space. Early on I settled on a rustic look. I like rustic. I hope you like what you read and see.

First stop, 4W Rustic Furniture Depot in Waxahachie. I have to tell you guys that I love simple but real. I wanted a solid wood desk, file cabinet etc. and I found exactly what I was looking for and it turned out really cute! Check out what I selected below.👇🏾..😍😍

For the love of wood😍

File cabinet

Next, I knew I wanted a metal storage cabinet for promotional items, cleaning products etc. so I combed Amazon to see what I could find. The stars were aligning because I found/selected this cabinet in minutes. As you'll see, I didn't think it through in terms of transport, assembly or keeping sane. I literally laid on the floor from exhaustion whilst assembling this cabinet. I should note, that I love assembling furniture and things of that nature but only when clear instructions are included, not just one dimensional pictures. 😒🙄 I'm sure glad the TTH President is an optimist because that poor cabinet, who knows where it would've landed. See below👇🏾...

Door panels and something else, geesh!😂🤣

The frame😵‍💫

Side and back panels

Bottom panels

A million nuts, bolts and screws

Almost finished here

Next, I found a beautiful desk chair, guests chairs, wooden sign, clock and chest from various places. One of my most favorite antique malls ever is "Knick Knacks" y'all. You must check this place out, it's located in Duncanville, Tx and you can find me and my Jeep there almost every Saturday. Take a look at what I scored below👇🏾...

Rare find! Military trunk from Knick Knacks (Duncanville Texas).

Guest Chairs... Knick Knacks (Duncanville Texas)

Desk Chair. Yes I assembled it.

Custom made sign from Etsy.

The perfect spot for the perfect accessory.

I'm not fully finshed decorating the space yet but most of the major items are completed. I hope you've enjoyed this glimpse into the journey of decorating my humble office.

I think for the next blog, I'll show you the promotional merchandise available and my thoughts when selecting the items. Or, maybe I'll share a blog about me since it was promised. Let me know what you think in the comment section after reading this blog. I'd also like to know if you like the name Hydrangeans. I could also go for Hydrangea-Nites or even HydrangeaKnights. That Hydrangea-Nites sounds like a very irritating bug. 🤣😂

Quick video of what the office looks like now mius the wooden sign... Enjoy

Thanks again Y'all!! Stay tuned....

Greetings Y'all and welcome to the official blog of The Tattered Hydrangea. This is my first attempt at writing a blog, starting a business etc. so please read this with the understanding that everything I do is different. This blog will follow suit and most certainly be different! The Blog Series: Humble Beginnings will take you on my journey of searching for an office space, decorating/assembling furniture, my thought process throughout and much more. Let's go!!!

So, now that the vision of starting the non profit had become a reality, it was time to look for office space. Geesh! After speaking with several properties, I narrowed down to two locations offered from Boxer Properties who has several locations throughout the metroplex. Office location one was 8204 Elmbrook (see below), really cute, nice space but the location was a bit further than I was interested in driving-it's over by Lovefield Y'all. So ❌...

The second location had two office spaces that I was interested in with price being a major factor. 1801 N Hampton Rd located in the Inwood National Bank building, Desoto Texas. The first office I looked at was cute, see below, however; not for me. So❌...

💜By the way, that's my ride or die in the video, my Mom.💜

Suite 460, the space I fell in love with which I now call my Humble Office Beginnings. 😍

To see more, come visit. By appointment only though, I still work a day job, lol.

I'm Eulalia Jackson, President of The Tattered Hydrangea, a non profit obsessed with providing essential items to domestic abuse survivors. As a child I remember my grandmother, mother and countless stories of my grandfather doing God's work - helping those in need. Very early on I realized my calling was also to help others by doing the most good with whatever resources were at my disposal at the time. But enough about me, that blog will come much later...

Thank you for taking the time to read the first installment of my blog. The frequency of the blogs are TBD because, y'all I still work a day job, lol. I pray that you will find my determination, humor and stick-to-itiveness throughout each blog and everything presented to you from The Tattered Hydrangea. You are important to us and we are important to those survivors in need...

Thank you again for your time. Y'all come back now...
